Lakes Two Day Success….

John Shirt fills us in with the details…
“Michael Brown, No.1 JST GGUK Rider has just won the infamous Lakes Two Day Trial !

Michael started off well on Saturday morning with a ‘clean’ first card but made a small mistake in the afternoon ‘going for a clean’ which resulted in a quick ‘five’. He finished Day 1 in second place behind leader Jonathan Richardson.
Sunday saw a focused ‘Pune’ win the day easily to take the overall win over the two days.
Michael has stuck to his plan over the past weeks and is riding very well. With confidence on a high he looks forward to the Scott this coming Saturday.”

All the action from the last round…

John Shirt fills us in on Michaels weekend..
“Michael Brown, No1 JSTGGUK rider has just won the final British Trials Championship round on Sunday. He won last weekend’s penultimate round in Wales and has won again yesterday to finish the BTC season on a high.

James Dabill was second on the day and has won the overall British Championship for the third time. Sincere congratulations to James, family and to John Lampkin / Beta.

I think both Michael and Dibs have been superb this year and they have made an exciting Championship. I have personally enjoyed the fight with Dibs / Beta this year and i’m pleased Michael has won three rounds. I cant wait for Round 1 2012 !!

The event yesterday saw the welcome return to the ‘Red Rose Trial’ at Back Cowm Quarry organised by the Rochdale & District MCC. The venue is superb and the club put 100% effort into the event. The sections were tough and were made harder because of the rain shower on Sunday morning and the rain during the last lap which made conditions slippery.

Michael set off confident, with two superb cleans on the first two sections. Michael rode in front of Dibs and things were going well until he had two fives at sections 7 & 8. He was timed out on 7 and hit Shaughan on 8 on the last step. 10 marks gone!

The one thing that is most impressive about Michael is the ability to keep grafting and not let a bad ride go to the next section. The rest of the lap went well to finish on 16. Not knowing Dibs’ first lap score we knew it would be close as we thought Dibs had two fives on the first lap plus some other marks so you can imagine the shock when we saw his lap of 8 !

We were informed that rain was coming so Michael started to get a move on and he again produced a stunning second lap of 9 marks and that included a bad five on section 4.

Going into the last lap we were 6 behind Dibs so the win was still on. Michael then flattened a flag on section 2 which made us 11 behind with ten sections to go, not good L.

Nevertheless Michael kept grafting and tried to beat the rain which we didn’t. The rain started at section 6 so half a lap in the rain was going to be tough. Michael rode fantastically in the closing stages and did the last six sections for 15 marks compared to Dibs’ 26. This deservedly won Michael the Trial by one mark J

So Michael still has the #2 bib for 2012. The difference this year is that Michael has been a lot closer than before and has won three rounds. Yes, Dibs is still the champ but Michaels confidence on the gasser is still growing and our ‘work in progress’ will not stop with this committed rider from Scarborough.

I am very passionate about whomever my No1 rider is…as is all our staff and we are 100% behind Micheal. He has finished world #6 and UK #2 this year which im very happy about. Scott win now please!

Michael Brown took his JST GGUK GasGas to a fine win at the recent Mitchell trial, held in East South Wales.
A brilliant second lap of only 7 marks set Michael up for the win, but friend and rival James Dabill fought back on the 3rd and final circuit to close the gap to just one single point at the end.

Michael Brown climbs to top spot at the Mitchell

Michaels win now leaves him 9 points behind James in the Championship table.. all to play for at the last round this coming weekend.

2011 World Championship ends…

John Shirt fills us in on Michael’s French trip…
“Michael Brown, No.1 JST GGUK Rider has finished the 2011 World Outdoor Trials Championship in a fantastic and career best 6th place.

The last round which was a 2 day event was in Southern France at the weekend. The points situation was close between Loris Gubian, Michael Brown and James Dabill with only 5 points between them, all fighting for 6th, 7th and 8th Championship positions. Before the weekend Michael was 3 points behind Loris and 2 points in front of Dibs.

The weekend could not have gone much better! Michael was fully aware of the importance of the weekend and with his No.1 Minder Shaughan Galway out of action with Honeymoon duties (Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Galway!), we drafted in a very dependable replacement in the form of ‘Jack Lee’. There could be nobody better to step into Shaughan’s shoes considering the importance of the weekend.

Thanks to ‘isma’ who got Michaels bike running well at high altitude, Fridays practice went well.

We all viewed the sections Friday afternoon and the sections looked perfect if the weather stayed fine. We woke Saturday morning to blue sky so all looked good. We nearly managed the first lap in dry weather. We got to section 13 with only a light shower and then the heavens opened. With sections 13 and 14 in streams this didn’t affect anything and it also actually helped on the man-made 15th as well.

The second lap was a nightmare for everyone (apart from Adam) in the torrential rain where we managed to only get through five sections. Nevertheless everyone struggled and Michael’s good first lap helped him finish the day in 7th with Loris 8th and Dibs 10th. So only one point gained on Loris but three more gained on Dibs we still had a lot to do on Day 2 to reach 6th in the Championship.

Michael was happy with Saturday, just gutted to miss out on his tie-break with Jack Challoner who beat him on most cleans.

We awoke Sunday to torrential rain that did not stop all day. The organizers did a fantastic job and changed nearly all the sections for the wet weather. Section 1 was the unchanged and the last step proved very difficult in the wet with only Toni and Cabes reaching the ends cards for less than a five on the first lap. We also had a bad five on section 2, so we didn’t start well. A confident Brown bounced back with an awesome (and needed) clean on section 3 and a fantastic one dab ride on the massive step of 4. The rest of the lap went well with only more five on 11. So after the first lap Michael was a solid joint 5th with Dibs. More importantly Loris was struggling 10th…game on!
Lap 2 went more or less the same with Michael riding constantly well with another good lap, only 3 marks down on his first lap. Team boss Dougie Lampkin (who did a great job all weekend) kept me informed of how Loris was doing behind us and we knew things were going well. I kept this information from Michael and just told him to concentrate on each section. This he did and a strong 6th place was rewarded. As we waited for Loris to finish we watched more scores go up. The new Junior World Champion Alfredo Gomez had a great day finishing 7th. Chalooni 8th, Grattarola 9th and Loris 10th……6TH IN THE WORLD WAS MICHAELS!

Personal congratulations go to the rider Michael Brown who has never stopped fighting all year. Congrats and Thanks to Shaughan Galway, Jack Lee and factory spannerman ‘isma’. “
